I made dinner tonight.  Chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans.  Yum.  And I just took an apple pie out of the oven.

Could I be any more domesticated???

The hubby and I just spent three hours at Wal-Mart. Three! The sad part is that the time was split between two different ones. I was on a quest for cat ears, but I came up short. I did, however, manage to obtain some Herbal Essences hairspray, two deodorants (I’m in a trial phase), a WOW cd and a NOW cd, undereye circle solution, a cupholder for my beautiful Saturn, and a king size Reese’s. The hubby bought a car magazine. He is much simpler than I.

Drink Starbucks’s Pumpkin Spice Latte. Mmmm.

We have Click and Conan’s 10 year anniversary special from NetFlix. I really like the video store coming to me. Mostly because I am ridiculously lazy.

We’re going to see this evangelical strength team called Delta Force at my high school tomorrow. They gave the kids a preview during school today, and it was neat. Breaking Lousiville Sluggers – cool. Tearing phone books in half – cool. Jesus – cool. How can you go wrong?

The hubby came up with the idea of synchronizing our quiet times so that we can have discussions about them. It sounds like a great plan to me. Not only does it give us accountability, but it also opens the door for spiritual and intellectual stimulation. Spending time in the word is good and meaningful, but sharing it with someone adds a whole other dimension.

conferencing

Today we had parent-teacher conferences, and I made the mistake of wearing boots that were not designed for 12 hour wear.  Ouch.  I am going to take a shower to remedy that.  You might think a bath would make more sense, but I like to sit down in the shower and feel the hot water running down on me.  Bath water gets cold too quickly.  Showers are much more relaxing (although bubble baths, especially community ones with my husband, are always nice).

Can someone tell me why the parents that show up to PTCs are the ones who have kids making A’s?  It’s nice to meet them, but I don’t really have that much to say.  I have this one parent who came this year and last, and he does nothing but gripe about my principal while he’s in there.  I like my boss, so it’s very awkward.

I ache.

about that neighbor

You know – the one that was stealing my mail? Yeah. Totally in jail now. She’s not there for swiping my package, but that is irrelevant to me. She had it coming.

I’m going to watch The Jacket now.

I opened this up to post, but

I can’t remember what I was going to say.  Something about the hubby.  He bought me a new headlight.  He gave me a card today (with the fluffiest cat EVER on the front).  Um.  Crap.

but I think my neighbor is stealing my mail.  Or, more specifically, I think she stole a package of mine.  I have lots of details and evidence, and I feel about 90% certain that she took my box (and the 10% left over is just me faking humility).  I saw the mailman deliever it to her, but when your neighbor receives something, you assume it belongs to them, RIGHT?  And if it didn’t, they would give it to you as soon as they figured that out, RIGHT?  The package was trackable, and it was delivered at the same time she received her package.  It was a book, and the box was about that size (well, bigger, but you know how amazon is).  This was three days ago.  Grr.

I am trying not to be angry.  The hubby said he would fix it, but our neighbor is CRAZY.  That’s another story entirely, though.

I just want my freaking box.  And maybe some jailtime for crazy neighbor lady.  I filed a complaint with the USPS already.  I hate feeling nasty.  Rather, I hate that I enjoy it so much.

to pay, or not to pay

I am in the midst of a battle between my Board and BCBS. Apparently someone misfiled some paperwork, thus causing my claim to be denied. I’m doing some housekeeping in regard to my credit report, and there are some things I just don’t want to pay out of principle. Like charges that I was insured for.

It’s good to see that I don’t really have that much bad debt. I have some because I’m an idiot, but not much. It will be a lot less when this crap gets straightened out. I only have $50 that I legitimately owe, and that’s not a problem. I also have $15,000 in students loans, but they’re all current. One of them died today because I sent Citi over $1000 to make it go away. It feels good to be rid of that loan.

The hubby and I are going to an art show downtown tonight at the Icehouse Cafe. I anticipate good times, because I like art, and I like downtown. If it weren’t such a gloomy day, we’d probably walk. Alas.

More progress with the apartment. I see a clean and organized living space any day now.

In about half an hour I’m leaving to meet up with my husband to grab a quick cup of coffee between his classes.  God, I love fall break.

I am making progress on the apartment thing, and my goal is suddenly starting to look achievable.  It will never be just how we want it for the sheer fact that there just isn’t room, but it will be as close as you can get.

Toaster Strudels rock.

Thinking about my white mocha is causing me to fidget.  Sweet coffee bliss…

What are you reading?  I need some good book recommendations, and all both of you love to read.  I trust your opinions.

one box at a time

I am at the front end of a glorious two weeks off.  Modified year-round has its benefits.

My goal is to have the apartment COMPLETELY unpacked here in the next couple of days.  That’s idealistic, but then again, I’m the kind of person who think the Titans can win against Indy on Sunday.  Woot.

Good things such as Oktoberfest have been happening, but I can’t bring myself to type anything of substance.  Kerblah.
